I’d like to recommend Kurokabe Garasukan to you. Kurokabe Garasukan is in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture. Nagahama is located in the northern part of Shiga. The special product is Funa-zushi, Hama-chirimen and gourd. Funa-zushi, a local specialty of Shiga Prefecture, is a type of nare zushi (fermented sushi) made with crucian carp and smells strange. Hama-chirimen is a kind of expensive silk fabric. It is used as a material of Japanese traditional kimono. Common people cannot afford it.lol The shape of gourd is "kawaii". Shiga is famous for Lake Biwa. Lake Biwa is the largest lake in Japan! Biwako Kusatsu Campus of Ritsumeikan University is also in Shiga. Kurokabe Garasukan is located near the station so it is easy to get around. Kurokabe Garasukan is art gallery of glass. There are many glassware on exhibit. We can buy some of them. we are also able to experience making of glasswork. Kurokabe Garasukan belongs to Kurokabe Square. Kurokabe Square is sightseeing spot that put traditional buildings to practical use. Kurokabe Square includes not only garasukan but also restaurants, café and other commercial architectures. There are about 30 buildings. Kurokabe Square is not broad, but there are some activities that make us excite. Originally, Kurokabe garasukan was not a museum. It had been used as a store building of bank. Althought it should have been demolished, private companies and local government cooperated and established Kurokabe in order to reproduce and preserve the building. Nowadays, it is crowded with tourists.
